Abstract

The clip (1a, 1b) is used in bolted pairs to connect two parallel slotted box section rails (4) at a definite interval, being applied to single post and double rail vehicle impact fences for central highway reserves. The two clips engage the respective rails through the slots, are bolted together in opposition, and use interactive ramps and end faces to effect a clamping of the slot edges. Each clip may be of heavy duty plate, having an 'E' shaped body of which the central arm extends aft to terminate in a symmetrical anchor shaped head (2a, 2b). A central body hole locates the bolt (3), and the inter-arm flaps are cranked up to form the rams (12a, 12b). When the nut and bolt is tightened leading body end faces (14a, 14b) contact the rams (12b, 12a) on the counter clip causing the connection to contract, the anchor end faces (23a, 23b) and the counter clip bar ends (10a, 10b) then converging to grip the slot edges.
