Abstract

A plant consists of a vessel arranged on a horizontal plane contg. a liq. for purificn. of the gases which is injected into the gases passing through a washing element placed in the top part of the vessel. The gases are charged to the washer through an inlet in the middle of the vertical wall of the vessel. The gases then enter the penultimate passage by a bend formed by intermediate partitions. The passages are provided with ramps of atomisers to wet the gas and include also elements for forced washing. The last bend corresp. to each of the right hand and left hand courses of the washer is provided with a drying element. The upper wall of the last passage contains an opening for the admission of the washed and dried gases under a horizontal compartment contg. active carbon. The system compensates press. drops and prevents the usual clogging of the contact elements. The residues fall directly into the liq. in the vessel. Decantation of the residues eliminates the use of transfer pipes.
