Abstract

The power of flowing water can be utilised by rotors with curved blades arranged in rows with parallel axes. The rotors are mounted in a framework with streamlined deflectors (3) on each side. The deflectors (3) cause the flowing water to impinge on the blades (7) on the exposed side of the rotor so that the rotors rotate even when fully immersed. In addition the deflectors (3, 3') on opposite faces of the support frame are staggered, so that the rotors always rotate in the same direction irrespective of the direction of flow of the water.
