Abstract

Plastic dishes with cavity wall rim are provided with cover having deep sidewalls ending in lateral flange flush with base of dish. Cover flange can be sealed to slightly larger flat sheet, supporting the dish, to seal enclosed dish. Dimples or other spacers between cover and rim of dish allow dish cavity to be ventilated whilst covered if base sheet is removed. Used as an alternative to glass Petri dishes for holding gels for bacteriological culture growth, using e.g. dishes/covers made of polyethylene and a support sheet made of polyethylene-coated paper.
