Abstract
L'invention a pour objet l'élimination sélective du fer d'un minerai ferrugineux. On envoie le minerai séché et chauffé 3 dans un réacteur à contre-courant 1 qui comprend une zone de sulfuration 4, une zone intermédiaire 5 et une zone de chloration 8, dans lesquelles le minerai se déplace successivement, la zone de sulfuration 4 recevant un agent réducteur pour former des sulfures de fer, la zone intermédiaire 5 assurant la conversion des sulfures de fer en chlorure de fer et la reconstitution du soufre et des composés contenant du soufre utilisés en 4, et les chlorures de fer ainsi que l'oxyde principal enrichi étant séparément retirés de la zone de chloration 8. Production d'un minerai enrichi de bauxite ou d'ilménite.
