Abstract

The upper part of the Macpherson strut has the sliding shaft (7) held in a floating bearing block (21) which is itself linked to the cylinder walls by flexible membranes (17). These are clamped between two sections of the wall on the outside and by a screw on sleeve on the bearing block. The system provides a simple location of the sliding shaft without any danger of straining the seals due to tilt displacements of the system.
