Abstract

Appts. comprises peripheral cells with two parallel faces for optical measurement and connected to a central receptacle into which the sample is fed. Each cell is designed to contain a reactant. The cells are calibrated and the appts. incorporates, for each cell, a duct through which the sample flows from the receptacle to the cell so that it totally fills the cell by centrifugation and an orifice for air to escape from the cell, placed nearer to the axis of rotation than the inlet and opening into the receptacle. The orifices are sized so as to retain the liq. contd. in each cell after the cell has been completely filled. The appts. can be much smaller than existing appts. It is simple and suitable for mfr. in large runs by standard moulding techniques.
