Abstract

For use on a french window or similar, the casement lock has a hand lever actuated pinion transmitting linear movement to casement bolt links and to a non-retractable lateral bolt, which also has a key operated cylinder lock. Racks coupled to the head and foot of the respective links are engaged by the pinion, the lateral bolt being mounted on the latter rack, and the cylinder lock coupled to the former by a locking cog. The staple may have a lateral gate with a curved blade spring which engages the bolt for a latch effect. The cog may be recoil sprung and mounted on an axle which connects the housing walls and locates below the pinion axle. The cog may have a tooth which engages a notch in the lower rack, and may have a lug engaged by the cylinder lock.
