Abstract

The ultrasonic probe has a support for a number of converter elements which produce three-dimensional data in true time on the internal structure of an article examined. The elements (11) are arranged in a two-dimensional pattern by a number of grooves (13) at right angles to each other in a converter (12). The element electrodes are wired together (16) and have terminals (14) leading to a processor (17). Wiring is by the wire-bonding method. The design is such that the wiring does not affect radiation of the ultrasonic oscillations.
