Abstract

In an installation for the purificn. of waste water, the latter is first introduced into a reaction vessel to be agitated with lime in a lightly pressurised atmos. of CO2. The treated waste water is transferred into a decanting vessel for sepn of the liq. phase from the sludge composed of calcium carbonate and impurities. Settled sludge is pumped away for drying. The treated waste water transferred from the reaction vessel is strained through a filter receiver suspended inside the decanting vessel. The filter receiver is pref. a disposable filter bag of textile material. The clarified effluent runs off continually from the decanting vessel. The filter receiver is renewed, or emptied and replaced, periodically as necessary. The filter screen eliminates the need for a pump.
