Abstract

The rotary tool is made for drilling rock and compises a one-piece solid body (1) forged and machined from a hexagonal or round bar. The cutting end (2) is shaped to provide clearance flutes, the drilling nose (3) having cutting tips (3') made from sintered hard metal which are brazed into position. The opposite end of the drill body is threaded (4) to fit into the drive coupling and its diameter is greater than at the drill end. The length of the body must ensure the threaded end does not enter the hole.
