Abstract

The pressure pad is fitted to a press tool, being used to apply pressure and hold work during the pressing operation. A pillar type press tool is used, the pad being loaded by means of spring units (10) operating between top bolster (5) and pressure plate (9). Each spring unit comprises a main stem (10), a large head (12) locating in the pressure plate. The upper end has a bush (19) sliding inside a cylindrical body (23) in the bolster, forming the upper limiting stop. A collar (17) around the stem, under the cylindrical body, forms the lower stop and pressure is maintained by dished spring washers (16).
