Abstract

A wood screw(3) with a countersunk head(5) has a hexagonal crown(6) to enable it to be screwed inot position with a spanner. This addition of a hexagonal crown is particularly useful for fixing lavatory bowls to the floor. With the usual type of wood screw with a slotted head the screw driver is liable to slip out of the slot and damage the outside surface of the bowl. This type of screw can be tightened with an ordinary spanner or a box spanner and so avoid the risk of damage. The hexagon(6) can be covered with a decorative cap(9) which screws into a tapped hole(7).
