Abstract

The rigid skirt extends the base of the shell of safety helmets for use by motor cyclists. Padding (14, 15), shaped to the lower part of the head, is fitted inside the skirt. The skirt consists of two half-skirts (1, 2) which are articulated to the base of the helmet. The half-skirts are fixed to the helmet by two bolts (3, 4) on the base of the shell and by articulated curved tongues (8) with a stop (7) to limit the amplitude of pivoting. The tongues are moved by two eccentric cams (20) which engage on notched edges of the tongues.
