Abstract
The tension release mechanism is fitted to cables of portable appliances and components. It contains a helical clamp which can rotate freely between the jaws of a support block. The helical clamp (1) is connected to a clamping bolt (10) via a flexible link (9). The support block is made with a clamping slot (11) for the clamping bolh (10). The link (9) is spring loaded and the helical clamp is permanently connected to the jaws of the support block. It tends to rotate in the opposite direction to the clamping direction when in the neutral position. The link is an integral part of the helical clamp and the clamping bolt.
