Abstract

Individual pins are secured in an apertured substrate of a carding flat. The substrate is supported at its ends for guidance past a carding cylinder. Pref. the pins are inclined towards the direction of movement during carding and have pointed ends. The pins can have an elliptical cross section, the major axis being in the direction of movement. The pin points may lie on a cylindrical surface. Cleaning fibres from the flat is easier with the individual pins than with card clothing or card wire.
