Abstract
Cette invention concerne un procédé et un appareil pour le refroidissement rapide d'un abrasif en fusion. On provoque ce refroidissement et la solidification rapide de l'abrasif en le versant dans un bain de métal en fusion sous agitation ayant un point d'ébullition supérieur à la température de l'abrasif contre l'oxydation. Les particules d'abrasif solidifié flottent à la surface du bain métallique ; elles sont prélevées et séparées du métal qui y adhère par exemple par centrifugation, puis broyées pour donner des particules ayant une granulométrie correspondant à celle d'un grain abrasif. Ce procédé est applicable en particulier aux abrasifs à base d'oxyde d'aluminium, en particulier aux mélanges en fusion d'alumine et de zircone.
