Abstract

Aminiature d.c. motor is for use as a sepping motor or in clock and watch movements. The motor action accommodates changes of battery characteristics due to ageing. The motor has two stator windings set around a multipolar rotor. The permanent magnet rotor material has high coercive and remnance characteristics and has twelve circumferential slots defining alternate north and south poles. Eight stator windings (55-62) are connected in two groups the phase difference between them being controlled by a voltage variable capacitor (C) and a resistor (R). A fast running re-set mode is achieved by a switch altering the winding connection sense.
