Abstract
Fibre optique à résistance à la traction améliorée. Des fibres optiques ayant une résistance à la traction élevée sont formées en prévoyant un revêtement à faible coefficient de dilatation sur la surface extérieure. Le matériau à faible coefficient de dilatation se contracte moins en se refroidissant que le matériau constituant la fibre optique et provoque la mise en état de compression permanente de la surface extérieure de la fibre. La couche extérieure de compression a pour effet d'augmenter sensiblement la résistance à traction globale de la fibre en neutralisant la tension appliquée à la fibre pendant son utilisation. Application aux fibres optiques de télécommunication.
