Abstract

The sensor registers blood pressure and flow and comprises a cylinder (3) containing a piezo-electric electrode (11). One end (9) is held in a bush (7), the other end (12) is embedded in a cap (13), moving in a frictionless pivot (14, 16, 17). Perpendicular to this is a probe spindle (19); one end (24) is flat and polished and contacts a surface artery, the other end is domed (23) and contacts the piezo-electric electrode cap. Around the spindle are flat ferro-electric ceramic electrodes (28, 29) embedded in the plastic (27) and operating at a frequency suitable for measuring the Doppler effect. The sensor is connected to memory and pilot oscilloscopes.
