Abstract

Procédé de préparation de méthylolmélamines éthérifiées par du méthanol, essentiellement monomères, qui contiennent, par mole de mélamine, plus de 5 moles de formaldéhyde et plus de 4 moles de groupes méthoxyméthvles et qui, pour une teneur en corps solides d'au moins 95 %, ont, à 25 degrés C, une viscosité inférieure à 10 Pas. On fait réagir la mélamine et le formaldéhyde dans un rapport molaire compris entre 1 : 6,2 et 1 : 8, en présence d'un catalyseur basique, dans un mélange réactionnel renfermant de 10 à 40 % en poids d'eau et de 40 à 20 % en poids de méthanol, à une température de 40 à 60 degrés C, de manière à obtenir une suspension de méthylolmélamine, puis on éthérifie en présence de 15 à 30 moles au total de méthanol par mole de mélamine, à une température de 25 à 50 degrés C, en présence d'un acide fort Les méthylolmélamines éthérifiées ainsi préparées peuvent être utilisées pour l'ennoblissement de textiles et du papier, pour la réalisation de revêtement très brillants et très solides et comme adhésifs.
