Abstract

The equipment to chop long material, such as reducing continuous filaments to staple fibres, has a spool body round which the material is wound in a single layer to be advanced in coils along the spool body. There is >=1 cutter placed in the path of the coil layer as it is advanced. The design allows the feed material to be processed at high speeds, and also allows the development of blocking material without clogging and other stoppages.
