Abstract
The unit is used for surveillance of surgical instruments used internally, tracking being continuously shown on a television screen which can receive two signals through a mixer unit. Two sensors are used, one being employed to pick up signals from a source emitting low definition X-rays. These are transformed into electrical signals which are electronically scanned to give an image in a memory unit. The other sensor detects magnetic or electrical shortwaves, the image being superimposed on the radiological image. The low definition X-ray source used can be employed continuously without danger to the body tissues of patient or surgeon.
