Abstract

The installation comprises a steam-heated distn. column associated with a steam-heated evaporator. The vapour exhaust outlet from the evaporator is piped to the distn. column so that at least part of the exhaust vapour is used to heat the column. The distn. column outlet for concentrate is pref. connected via a siphon pipe to a transfer tank. Used for heat conservation in the prodn. of alcohol by distn. partic. in the winemaking industry. Recuperation of waste heat in exhausted vapour from an evaporator. The vapour is passed to a distn. column instead of being put through a condenser or exhausted to atmos.
