Abstract

The installation comprises a degassing vessel with an inlet connection, a liq. outlet valve and topped by a gas purging valve. The liq. outlet valve leads to a discharging pump. Liq. level detectors are fitted inside the vessel as well as a flow detector in the inlet connection. The detectors are connected to a control circuit so that gas will be released by the purge valve or liq. discharged to the pump but gas prevented from reaching the liq. outlet valve. Interruption of flow into the vessel ensures that the liq. outlet valve is held open to allow the pump to drain out the vessel. The liq. outlet valve and purge valve are pref. controlled always to adopt opposed positions, i.e. one open and the other closed. Used to de-gas liqs., partic. to deaerate a liq. such as milk, so that accurate volumetric flow can be determined.
