Abstract

The steering brake for farm tractors and machines ensures that both the service brake and the parking brake remain operational when it is used. Each of the steered wheels is controlled by a brake cylinder in the form of double-action cylinder featuring a spring energy storage. The cylinder rod operates the wheel brake through a cable when the directional control valve is set and the pedal activates the steering brake valve. If the control valve has its handle set in the zero position, the steering brake is inoperative. The parking brake remains operational through a valve which is connected to the piston end chamber of the cylinder.
