Abstract

A noise insulation screen made up of glass panes (44, 46) uses vertical supports (10) which may be of H section with the upper cross piece (24, 26) recessed of each end (52, 54) to receive the edges of the glass. Capping strips (32, 34) are bolted onto the projecting face (18) remaining between these two recesses, trapping the edges of the glass and U-shaped packers (48, 50) bent around the edges. The heads of the bolts (28, 30) fit into T section slots (20, 22) in the projecting face to clamp the capping strips. To ensure a good clamping action, the projecting face on the outside of the T slots can be recessed, leaving a clearance or can slope at an angle.
