Abstract

The document transmission system has the original text memorised and transmitted to one of several reception units, each of which uses a different signal format, which is incompatible with that for the other units. The signals representing the text are transmitted together with associated control signals, which are analysed to determine the transmission source and modified by substitution and addition of further control signals. The new set of control signals lie in the same positions relative to the text signals and include control signals for each possible reception unit. The text signals are automatically edited in accordance with the control signals relating to the selected reception unit. The system may be used for an electrographic copier forming part of a transmission system.
