Abstract
The case for an electronic metal detector is shaped so that a coil assembly can fold into a space to form a compact detector. Movement of the coil assembly to the operating position operates an on off switch. A detector comprises a rectangular plastic case (1) with a cut away section (2). A transmitting and receiving coil assembly (3) pivots (4) on the casing in order to fold it into the cut away section which also houses an electroluminescent diode (6) and a potentiometer 5) with knurled knob. The circuit on off switch (7) is operated when the coil assembly pivots. A clip (11) permits the detector to be fixed into a pocket.
