Abstract

The teeth of the combs pass between the bars of the primary screen, and the combs travel the length of the bars to promote the sepn. of solids. The comb-cleaner comprises laminar deflectors which remove paper etc. which has been pierced by the comb-teeth. Each deflector may be of straight supple and narrow metal blade-form, and cantilevered obliquely from the back of the reverse-curved head of each primary bar. The combs are displaced by an endless belt and pass down through the deflectors. Each comb-tooth passes between two deflectors which incline at 15-45 degrees from the roots to the tips of the teeth and relative to comb motion. The deflectors, thus, effectively comb each tooth from root to tip and removed attached debris.
