Abstract

Sealing qualities of a cable connector on the end of a cable are determined at high pressure. Part of the cable with the connector is submitted to water under pressure in an enclosure. A connector (6) mounted on the end of a cable (5) is enclosed in a tubular test enclosure (1) capable of withstanding the applied pressure of water introduced through an opening (7). Sealing around the cable is effected by a metallic washer (8) with shoulder (9) for fixing to the casing. A heat shrink sleeve (11) seals a small diameter section (10) of the washer to the cable. A threaded section (12) provides anchorage. The other cable end is anchored by an adjustable shaft (18).
