Abstract

The cathode tube data display system uses signs or characters from an input unit such as a keyboard. Certain of these characters will have grammatical accent signs other will not. At the output of the input unit the signs of characters are coded or transcoded so as to permit their display on a cathode ray tube. If the data coding emanating from the input unti concerns a sign or character not requiring an accent, this character is directly transmitted to the cathode ray tube. If the data received from the input concerns a character or sign requiring an accent, two separate codes are not used, but a single code which represents the character and its accent is transmitted to the tube.
