Abstract

The electromagnetic pump, for liq. metal consists of a stack of cylindrical coils connected to a polyphase supply and producing magnetic flux in the gaps between coils in such a way that this flux propagates parallel to the axis of the stack. Ferromagnetic rings are located between adjacent coils in the stack and betw een the end coils and the end supports of the stack. The stack is enclosed in a ferromagnetic tube passing around the middle rings and fixed to the end rings which hole it in place. The middle rings extend radially to touch the inner surface of the tube.
