Abstract

Optical viewing system has differential reduction in path of light to primary sensor via given field of the view dependent on illumination intensity. The lifht comes from different areas of the field of view. In operation, light from areas in which relatively high-intensive light sources exist is reduced to a greater degree than light which comes from other areas. The matrix reducer comprises a number of individually controlled cells, which consist of liquid crystals, so that their light transmission characteristics change. Thus, the intensity of light on the front plate of the camera tubes is greatly reduced.
