Abstract

The credit card verifying unit is used to check a credit card carrying identification data and credit data, with means for comparing a code recorded on the card with a series of characters entered via a manual keyboard. Each attempt to use the card is recorded in a memory of limited capacity, storing the data carried by the card, so that for each subsequent attempt a comparison is made between the card data and the memory data. The credit recorded on the card is added to the total sum recorded in the memory and the verification is interrupted if the total reaches a maximum limit.
