Abstract
The converter exhibits at least two self-commutated rectifiers (3A, 3B) which are connected in antiparallel with respect to their output terminals. For the rectifiers (3A, 3B), a circuit arrangement for commutation is provided, of which some of the circuit elements (D1 to D6, Lp, Cp, Qp, Ln, Cn, Qn) are jointly allocated to both rectifiers (3A, 3B). Using some of the circuit elements for both rectifiers makes it possible to save components and reduces the space required for the direct converter. Such direct converters are used, for example, as static Leonard arrangements for operating DC motors in both directions of rotation. In this arrangement, two self-commutated rectifiers are frequently combined with two externally-commutated rectifiers in order to compensate for the reactive power caused by the phase lag of the externally-commutated rectifiers by the apparent power of the self-commutated rectifier, caused by a phase lead.
