Abstract
Digital equipment is for the transmission of colour television signals uses pulse code modulation. It minimises distortion and other detrimental effects associated with analogue signal transmission. The equipment is in two parts connected by a line (1). At the transmission end, there is a camera (2) with point-to-point sweep giving sweep synchronization signals and three trichrome video signals. There are also analogue-to-digital converters (5, 6, 7) a synchronization encoder (4), a read-only memory (8), a parallel-series converter (9) and a transcoding transmission unit (11). At the reception end, there is colour cathode tube (3) with a sweep generator (19). There is also a transcoding reception unit (12), a series-parallel converter (13), a read-only memory (14), three digital-to-analogue converters (15, 16, 17) and a synchronization unit (19).
