Abstract

The five basic parts of the couch support respectively: the lower legs (1), thighs (2), hips (3), lumbar region (4) and the thorax (5). The hip and lumbar sections (3, 4) are adjustable, the slope of the thorax part (5) can be altered, and a movable head rest (6) is provided. In addition, there may be a vertically movable footrest (9) and a vertically-movable support (8) at knee level. The thorax part may have a separate section at breast level that sinks to accommodate a woman lying face down. Extension pieces can be inserted or removed at certain places. All parts, separately or together, can be turned about the long axis of the couch. All parts may be padded.
