Abstract

The cover (3) for lifting or hinging valves is of the disc type which bears on an annular seat (2) and has a grooved (4) periphery. the groove (4) forms a radial lip (10) which enables the rim of the collar to deform elastically and improve the seal under low pressure conditions. The groove may be of right angled triangular cross-section with the hypotenuse (6) falling from the root of the groove towards the valve seat (2). The external dia. of the radial lip (10) may be less than that of the parent disc (9).
