Abstract

The junction element consists of a metal ferrule in the form of a long cylinder with a necked portion in the centre. On either side of the neck, the ferrule is bored out to a small diameter (1f) near the neck and a larger diameter (1e) near the end. The end of the cable or bar is formed with two different diameters (E, E1) at the end, slightly smaller than the bores in the ferrule, so that it may easily be inserted, the smaller diameter (E1) being at the extreme end. After insertion, the ferrule is drawn through a die (2) placed at the neck and the drawing operation clamps the ferrule around the cable. Alternatively, crimping or stamping may be used to fix the cable.
