Abstract

The flange (1) is intended for use with a double walled pipe in which a heating fluid in the outer pipe maintains a controlled temperature in the inner pipe. The flange (1) has a short cylindrical extension (2) surrounding a longer cylindrical extension (3). The annulus between these extensions is connected to a recess (6) on the flange face by holes (7). The inner extension (3) is provided with a chamfer (3a) to ensure a good weld with the inner pipe (B). When this joint has been completed the outer extension (2) is then welded to the outer pipe (A). The staggering of the planes of the two joints names it easier to ensure sound welds.
