Abstract

The massage comprises tapping the patient with a soft spatula electrode on an insulating handle. The spatula is a single, slightly splayed, tongue-shaped piece of a conductive elastomer with a Shore hardness between 40 and 60. The elastomer (e.g. neoprene) is pref. loaded with carbon. Pref. the handle is made in two identical parts between which the spatula is gripped. The handle has a channel for the electric cable, which terminates in a metal contact moulded into the spatula to a depth of 20-30% of the spatula's length. The spatula is fitted with a removable, close-fitting sleeve of natural fibre, e.g., medical-type cotton jersey.
