Abstract

Arrangement for locking a charging ram in position in the charging opening of a coke oven chamber after the charging ram together with the bottom plate of the pounding box of a pounding machine for compaction of coking coal has been advanced from a position in which the charging ram forms the end wall of the pounding box at its far end from theoven chamber is claimed. It comprises a sliding plate arranged in a guideway to permit horizontal movement of the sliding plate into engagement with the charging ram in a direction, which is normal to the direction of motion of the charging ram, the guideway being fixed in relation to the charging ram.
