Abstract

An adhesive compsn. comprises (a) 70-30 pts. of a poly (ester-amide) sequenced copolymer and (b) 30-70 pts. finely divided spheroidal metallic powder comprising Al, Fe, mild steel, stainless steel or Zn. The copolymer melts at 155-225 degrees C and comprises 30-70 wt.% crystalline polyester segments dowed from 2-20C aliphatic or alicyclic diol(s) and 8-20C alicylic or aromatic dicarboxylic acid(s), and 70-30 wt.% amorphous polyamide segments derived from an aliphatic polycarboxylic acid contg. >=40 wt.% 18-54C polycarboxylic acid and 2-10C aliphatic or alicyclic primary diamine. Hot melt adhesive for bonding various substrates e.g. metals, glass, natural and synthetic textiles, polymer sheets, wood, paper etc. The compsn has good creep resistance at elevated temps. and when used as a gap filler can be pumiced, is solvent resistant and can be painted without absorbing solvent, swelling or blistering.
