Abstract

The manifold comprises a filter chamber contg. a filter element and an adjacent free space from which an entry passage leads into the aseptic vessel. A washing fluid supply is connected to the filter chamber free space. The interior of the filter element is connected to a main passage which branches as follows:- (a) branch to sterilising steam supply; (b) branch to sterile drying air supply; (c) branch to vent open to atmos. The entry passage pref. rises vertically from the aseptic vessel inlet and runs close and parallel to part of the vent branch as the two pass through a condenser jacket. Each of the three branches of the main passage is pref. fitted with an isolating valve, partic. an automatic valve. The entry passage pref. extends down into the aseptic vessel and terminates in a spray ball. A single, simple fitment on the top inlet sufficient for the control of washing, steam sterilising, sterile air drying and pressure balancing by venting to atmos.
