Abstract

The machine has a pair of jaws (144, 145) which are mounted eccentrically onto a pair of rotating shafts (143). Each of the jaws is driven by the revolving shaft which causes the crank mechanism (119) to oscillate about the top and bottom fixing brackets (142) so that the left and right of each jaw moves up and down. The leather (131) is fed into the machine and its surface is made pliable by passing it over the jaws. The jaws are driven by means of a belt which joins the two together so that their movement is synchronised.
