Abstract

A device for sampling granular material or pulverants, flowing in a primary conduit (1) comprises a displaceable section (8) of the primary conduit which when displaced diverts the entire flow into an intermediate hopper (3). The hopper outlet may be diverted along one of two paths, by a pivoting unit (15). The first output path (7) leads to a sampling station and the second output path (6) provides a recycling output merging with the primary conduit (1). The appts. operates under a gravity feed. Other embodiments disclose recycling points remote from the hopper, the hopper remote from initial flow diverting means (10) and a modification for use in a vertical primary conduit. The appts. is also embodied in bulk transportation loading systems utilizing cascades of intermediate hoppers and reentrant sampling paths.
