Abstract
An ultrasonic tomographic scanner has a transducer which scans a body. Mechanical linkage causes generation of scanning signals which are applied to a write beam deflection coil of an electron beam storage tube. A transceiver derives wider signal bursts from transducer under the control of a bi-stable which also controls alternate write and erase modes of the storage tube write beam. Tube comprises a mosaic target which stores the scanned image elementally. In this way an image comprised of a plurality of elements having varying grey levels dependent upon the intensity of the write beam is derived by scanning with read beam of the target. The read out signal is applied to the beam intensity modulating input of a CRT which is scanned in synchronism with the tube read beam over target.
