Abstract

The sliding window or door fixed metal frame has mutually insulated inner and outer sheets and continuous insulation on the frame shanks, with top and bottom shank insulation running on the frame interior. This attains effective insulation crossways over the whole frame and lengthways on the top and bottom shank. The vertical frame shank insulation is aligned according to the setting of the sliding wings. Both the top and bottom shanks are interrupted by an insulating unit in the area of the outer sliding wing, directly adjacent to the vertical shank. This unit is pref. shaped to fit the cross-section of the top or bottom shank, and it may be made of plastic.
