Abstract

The load sensitive brake control valve has two pivotted levers whose ends (17, 18) are arranged coaxially as cam surfaces to act on two pistons. One piston is subjected to the uncontrolled brake pressure and the other to the controlled pressure. The pistons are fitted with cams (16, 15) which lie against the lever cams, with the levers balancing between the cams. This provides a compact valve, with both pistons coaxial. The two levers balance the differential displacement of the two axles. The piston is biassed away from the valve seat (6) by a spring and held against the seat to interrupt flow in the brake line.
